Get that 'Glow' Facial

The Glow facial combines the deep exfoliation with the penetration of custom serums and LED programmes to give you the best results possible. The gentle physical exfoliation of the epidermis allows for the increased absorption of your custom product infusion combined with the power of a custom LED programme. This whole process can really benefit either pigmentation, hydration, antiageing, acne or sensitivity.

Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical, non-invasive procedure that uses a spray of microcrystals to remove the outermost layer of the skin. It lifts away all the dry, dead skin cells and in doing so will inevitably reveal younger, healthier-looking skin.

This procedure also encourages the production of a new underlying layer of skin. With the correct care and nourishment this new skin will flourish with higher levels of collagen and elastin, which we all know is the gateway to younger looking skin.

Although we do not treat it as such here at the spa microdermabrasion has become seen as a ‘lunch hour’ procedure purely due to it great effects at speed and its lack of downtime. Microdermabrasion is primarily used as a more clinical and extreme exfoliation but when exfoliating the skin and revealing fresher healthier skin it ultimately helps to eliminate fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of ageing. It can also dramatically improve the appearance of acne scarring.

All of this comes with virtually no side effects! The machine contains non-allergenic crystals so suits all skin types including the most sensitive. As a therapist we are able to alter the intensity and level of the treatment so starting at the lowest working the way up. Microdermabrasion does not present any serious risks when it is performed by a qualified therapist

Once we have a good clean foundation of the skin this is the prime time to introduce serums and the LED to target your concerns.

The LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a computer chip encased in a glass- like resin which emits therapeutic wavelengths (or colours) of light energy. The LED however is not to be confused with laser. The LED (light therapy) was originally developed to fast-track the healing of wounds post surgery but also the rejuvenation of healthy skin too.

When the therapeutic light energy is the correct wavelength, the cells in the dermis layer of skin will convert that light energy into ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the fuel that the cell uses to do its job. The fibroblast cells in the dermis layer have the job of producing collagen (which give the skin fullness or that plumped look) and elastin (which give the skin the ability to bounce back). In effect the LED gives the cells a 'full tank of fuel' and these fibroblast cells start to produce collagen and elastin like when we were 25 years old.

It is not just collagen boosting that we look to the LED machine for. The differing colours work on different concerns. Here is a small break down:

Red – stimulates collagen, plumps skin, promotes skin renewal and is used for anti-aging.

Blue – kills bacteria, can be used in acne treatment.

Green – reduces pigment and sun damage

Yellow – soothing and calming also good in the treatment of sun damage.

The combination of the two is like skin magic. We have combinations to suit everyone and every skin concern. Have a look at our prescription packs and get the skin you want at affordable prices.
